Responsibilities:
Organize the recruiting initiatives for both the SCH and SV plants by placing employment ads, conducting applicant screening, interviewing, testing, coordinating post-offer/pre-employment physicals, and performing background checks as necessary.
Conduct new hire orientation.
Assist employees in understanding benefits, company policies, job duties and employee related items.
Coordinate with the Human Resources Administrator to maintain and update personnel and benefit files.
Implement, interpret and administer policies and procedures in accordance with state and federal regulations, as well as company policies.
Assist in researching problems/questions and recommending resolution for (review with brokers or carrier) employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, STD, Life insurance, etc.
Research the local community and industry standards relating to current wage rates and competitive requirements.
Participate with the Human Resources Manager to investigate complaints (to include responding to the EEOC and Illinois Human Rights Commission, investigating claims of harassment and discrimination, etc.
) Assist the Human Resources Manager in administering the performance management process.
Assist the Human Resources Manager to ensure job descriptions are created, reviewed and revised as needed.
Promote teamwork, cooperation, and effective communication within the department and Company.
Maintain up to date knowledge of best practices and industry trends as it relates to areas of responsibility.
Assist in the coordination of meetings and employee related events.
Perform other duties to support the human resources team and other areas aligned with areas of responsibility.
Responsible for reporting food packaging safety problems to plant management.
In the incumbents absence these responsibilities will be transferred to the Human Resources Manager.
SPECIAL
Qualifications:
Requires prior knowledge of Human Resources principles and practices, State and Federal employment laws, ability to handle confidential information, excellent computer skills, oral and written communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
Experience with UKG Pro or related HRIS system.
Must be trained in and follow company policies on GMP, sanitation, pre-requisite programs, chemical control and food safety plans and policies.
Must be competent to carry out food packaging safety and quality initiatives.
Strong federal and state employment and OSHA law knowledge highly desirable.
Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
Strong computer skills, organizational ability, attention to detail.
Strong analytical skills - as numerous and sometimes contradictory polices or regulations may apply to any given situation.
Must be able to work effectively and cooperatively with employees at all levels and of all ages and cultural backgrounds.
Position requires individual who is even-tempered, ethical, approachable, a good listener, a good mediator, and someone capable of being firm, but fair, and compassionate in carrying out the human resources function for the organization.
Good judgment skills - Judgment based upon knowledge and experience must be exercised regularly when dealing with issues not explicitly covered by existing policy, procedure, regulation, contract language or law.
Must be able to work under pressure in stressful situations.
Must be able to work on numerous projects simultaneously and must be able to handle frequent interruptions.
Preferred certifications include:
Professional in Human Resources (PHR) and/or SHRM-CP
Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years of Human Resources generalist experience in a manufacturing environment.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Office - Professional setting with low noise level.
Plant -Minimal exposure to plant environment:
High noise level, personal protective equipment required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Light load lifting may be necessary.
(up to 25 lbs).
Light bending and reaching.
Frequent typing and use of mouse and telephone.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
