Position Overview:
The Underwriter I selects, prices, and maintains both the individual's risks and a book of business consisting of a variety of risks within an assigned territory.
This position works with the agency force within the assigned territory for growth and profit.
What You'll Do Underwrites, identifies, and assesses risk of new and existing business for personal lines products, including but not limited to automobile and homeowners Services the needs of agents, policyholders, and other parties via phone, email, and in person Analyzes reports such as Motor Vehicle Records, Credit Bureau Reports, Property Inspection Reports, and personal interviews Clarifies and answers questions for support personnel in department Consults with other departments regarding individual underwriting situations, including questions regarding billing, coverage, and procedures Educates agents about product information and changes in underwriting procedures Performs other duties as assigned What You'll Need Required Bachelor's degree in business or insurance related field or equivalent experience Typically requires 1-3 years of related experience Preferred or Specialized Prior underwriting experience Certifications & Licenses Demonstrated progress towards a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation or other relevant insurance designation Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Basic ability to:
Recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems Communicate effectively in both oral and written form Build client relationships Talking to others to convey information effectively Work under pressure and meet close deadlines Analyze, organize, and prioritize work while meeting multiple deadlines Work as a team member and follow directions Work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary What We Offer We get it- You're looking for a career with a company that invests in you.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
